Liverpool have allegedly been looking at Vancouver Whitecaps teenager Alphonso Davies.
Vancouver Whitecaps teenager Alphonso Davies in action
According to Canadian newspaper The Province, Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Vancouver Whitecaps, with teenager Alphonso Davies believed to be their target.
Davies, just 15, was born in Liberia but moved to Ghana and eventually Canada by the age of five, before coming up through the ranks with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.
The teenage forward has remarkably already made 15 first-team appearances for the Whitecaps, despite the fact he will only turn 16 in November.

On Sunday, Davies started against Seattle Sounders, and showed his huge potential by winning a penalty in a 2-1 defeat for Carl Robinson’s side.
Unsurprisingly, Davies has earned rave reviews, though he has also been compared to famous flop Freddy Adu, who was also an African talent who moved to North America, where he became a world-renowned teenage talent before his career faded away.

Now, Davies’ performances and potential are triggering major interest, with The Province reporting that Manchester United have been scouting him – but Liverpool have already been looking at him, stealing a march on their fierce rivals.
Reds scout Andy O’Brien – an ex-Newcastle, Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers defender – ended his carer with Vancouver, and returned to his former club to allegedly take a look at Davies.

Liverpool will be appealing given Jurgen Klopp’s role at the club, as many young players will want to play for him, as we’ve recently seen with midfielder Marko Grujic’s move from Red Star Belgrade.
Should the Reds make a move either in January, next summer or beyond, they will be hoping and praying that he isn’t another Adu, and instead lives up to the potential he has flashed in Canada so far.
