Antonio Conte has hailed Alisson by suggesting the the goalkeeper was Liverpool’s best player against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Liverpool headed down to North London and returned to Merseyside with all three points.

The Reds took an early lead through Mohamed Salah before the Egyptian took his chance from a terrible Eric Dier mistake.

Harry Kane did bring one back for Tottenham in the second half but Spurs couldn’t quite find a leveller despite major pressure.

Antonio Conte has hailed Alisson

Tottenham were better in the second half and certainly after Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench in his return from injury.

The Swede just brings so much to the Tottenham attack and Liverpool saw his immediate impact with an assist for Kane.

Tottenham just couldn’t get the equaliser though and weren’t able to beat Alisson after Kane’s goal.

Alisson recorded four saves as well as four clearances, clearing up at the back as well as making the saves expected of him.

There was one scary moment though as Alisson took too long on the ball and was almost dispossessed by Harry Kane.

Alisson was largely impressive though and he earned praise from Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.

Conte told Football London that he was happy with the number of chances Tottenham created even if they were beaten by the Reds.

Conte noted that Tottenham hit the woodwork through Ivan Perisic before stating that he felt Alisson was Liverpool’s ‘best player’ on the day.

The Italian added that Tottenham did well against Liverpool despite having a number of injuries at the moment, believing they can play ‘good football’ in the final third.

“We created chances in the first half and we hit the post,” said Conte. “We created an open goal and we wanted to create difficulties to Liverpool. In the dressing room I can tell you that I didn’t say anything negative to my players. I said we need to continue this way. We’re 2-0 down but we need to move the ball with same intensity and with the wing-backs we can create problems.”

“We hit the bar, and we scored and I think Alisson was the best player for Liverpool. The result is a disappointment. We have to take the example for the players. Despite having many missing players but we showed we can play good football and take on a team like Liverpool,” he added.

We know Alisson is arguably the Premier League’s best goalkeeper and most teams will find problems against him.

The praise from Conte is nice for Alisson and the Liverpool stopper will soon be looking to showcase his talents at the World Cup as Brazil’s first-choice stopper.
