Liverpool’s season has been littered with injury blow after injury blow – and they have now suffered yet another one.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been the main absentees this season, suffering campaign-ending knee injuries to leave Liverpool rocked.

Add in that the likes of Alisson, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Naby Keita and Diogo Jota have also suffered injuries over the course of the season, and Jurgen Klopp is likely sick of hearing about injuries.

Now though, Caoimhin Kelleher is the subject of concern having pulled out of international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

The goalkeeper has been missing with an abdominal injury since last month, and has been in a race against time to play in Ireland’s games over the international break.

Kelleher was named in the squad as Ireland believed that he would be back in training in time to be fit – but that is no longer the case.

Kelleher appears not to have recovered as quickly as hoped, and this setback in his return is hardly good news for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old is now Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper having moved ahead of Adrian this season, and Klopp would no doubt prefer to have him fit and backing up Alisson when the Premier League returns.

Kelleher now has a couple of weeks to get himself right, but pulling out of international duty won’t exactly leave the Reds feeling confident.
