Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been the signing of the season and is a surefire contender for individual awards.

Salah has defied even the most lofty expectations and has scored 21 goals in 25 Premier League games.

The Egyptian is just one behind top scorer Harry Kane in the golden boot race, with the Tottenham striker seeking to win the honour once again.

Harry Kane #10 of Tottenham Hotspur takes the ball as Hector Moreno #15 of Roma defends during the International Champions Cup on July 25, 2017 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Speaking to Marca, Salah says he is hopeful he can topple his Spurs rival and earn the prize, but admits Kane has a significant advantage.

He said: “He is a great player, in the last two years he has already been the top scorer.

“Kane plays as a No.9 and has more chances to score goals than me.

“In my mind I want to win it, but we will see what happens.”

Salah has done incredibly well to even get into the mix and is on course to score 30 goals in his first season as a Liverpool player.

In some seasons past, 30 goals would be enough to win the golden boot award. In 2015/16, Kane won it with 25 goals and last season 29 was enough.

The Tottenham striker may need to hit a personal best in order to stave off Liverpool’s impressive new signing.
