The Brazilian left Barcelona for Bayern Munich yesterday, and he received support from one of his former Liverpool teammates.
Philippe Coutinho left Barcelona to join Bayern Munich on a season-long loan yesterday, and Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain took to Instagram to defend his former teammate.
The Brazilian left Anfield for Barcelona in a £142 million deal in January 2018, but he really struggled to establish himself at the Camp Nou, racking up just 21 goals and 11 assists in 76 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants.
Coutinho left Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances, and there probably won’t have been too many Reds fans who were unhappy to see him struggle at Barcelona.
The 27-year-old has been given a chance to rebuild his career in Germany with Bayern Munich, however.
BT Sport shared an instagram post last night, asking whether Coutinho will prove his haters wrong in the Bundesliga:
And Oxlade-Chamberlain responded in emphatic fashion:
The Reds midfielder replied via his Instagram account:
“He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone…”
Coutinho will be desperate to succeed with Bayern. He is obviously still a supremely talented footballer. Whether the reaches the heights he reached at Liverpool ever again, however, remains to be seem.
