The Liverpool left-back picked up an injury against Barcelona last week.
Liverpool ace Andy Robertson suggested that he felt the pain when playing against Wolves last weekend, despite claiming that he should be ready for the Champions League final on June 1st, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 25-year-old Reds ace suffered a calf injury against Barcelona in the Champions League last week, and was forced off at half-time, but he made his return to Jurgen Klopp’s side for their final Premier League game of the season against Wolves on Sunday.
Robertson is widely considered to be one of Liverpool’s most important players, and he is undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in Europe – not bad for a player who cost just £8 million 18 months ago.
Having him fit and available for the Champions League final will be crucial to the Merseyside outfit’s hopes of lifting the trophy, and the Scotland international told the club’s official website how he is hopeful of being 100 per cent fit and ready for the clash with Tottenham:
“It wasn’t the best on Sunday and I could feel it during the game, but I wanted to play and was desperate to get out there. The adrenaline kept me going and the fact a lot of us have played through pain, not just me. Luckily now we’ve got a couple of weeks to recover and get our bodies right – and we’ll know we’ll be as fresh as we can be going into the final.”
Liverpool will go into the final against Tottenham as slight favourites, but Jurgen Klopp will be praying that Robertson is fully fit and available for selection in time for the final.
The Scot is so important to the way in which the Reds play, and he could very well have a huge bearing on the outcome of the Champions League final, if he is fit enough to play.
