Liverpool bounced back from a terrible 3-1 defeat at Leicester City to beat Arsenal by the same scoreline at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Reds were embarrassed at the King Power Stadium as Leicester ran riot, but they responded perfectly by beating Arsenal in style.

Roberto Firmino got Liverpool off to the perfect start, smashing the ball home from close range having been picked out by Sadio Mane’s right wing cross.

The same duo struck again before half time, as this time it was Firmino who set the goal up, spinning away from an Arsenal defender before teeing up Mane, who drove the ball powerfully into the net.

Liverpool were coasting, but were given something to think about when Alexis Sanchez set up Danny Welbeck to score for Arsenal, but the Gunners were caught on the break late in the day.

Adam Lallana’s exquisite pass with the outside of his right foot set Divock Origi away down the right hand side, and he crossed for the onrushing Georginio Wijnaldum to sweep past Petr Cech and seal a 3-1 win.

The result keeps Liverpool in the hunt for Champions League football, and will hopefully get Jurgen Klopp’s men back on track after some strange results of late.

After the final whistle, goalscorers Firmino and Wijnaldum both took to Twitter to celebrate, with the latter praising the ‘unbelievable atmosphere’ generated by the famous Anfield crowd.

Nathaniel Clyne, Jordan Henderson, Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius also sent messages to fans after the win, with Reds players unsurprisingly in buoyant mood after a superb victory.
