Back in July 2021, Jürgen Klopp allowed Harry Wilson to leave Liverpool and join Fulham in a £12m move.
It brought an end to the Wales international’s 16-year stay at Anfield, having joined the Academy at the age of eight in 2005.
Some supporters at Anfield may have felt Wilson had what it takes to make an impact in Liverpool’s first-team, as there is no doubting his technical ability.
Klopp even described his shooting technique as “world class” – now, the Welshman is shining away from Merseyside.
What’s the story?
Well, Wilson has enjoyed the best season of his career under Marco Silva at Craven Cottage this term.
Amazingly, the 25-year-old has been involved in 30 Championship goals in just 41 appearances, as he helped fire the Cottagers to the title.

Wilson has scored ten goals, while also providing 20 assists for Fulham this season – few players have had a Championship campaign like this one.
The Fulham No.8 was also nominated for the Player of the Season award.
Liverpool were right to sell Harry Wilson
On this evidence, you could argue that Klopp should’ve kept the Wrexham-born forward at Anfield, as he’s clearly a talented player.
However, we believe Liverpool made the right choice to sell Wilson.
With the likes of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota now part of the attacking options, alongside Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, Wilson wouldn’t have received many opportunities to play.
At the age of 25, he has already been on six different loan spells, so it was time for the winger to make a name for himself elsewhere.

As things stand, it’s safe to say the deal has worked out for both parties.
Liverpool find themselves challenging for the quadruple, while Wilson has earned promotion and a league winner’s medal in west London.
Next season, however, Klopp will find himself face to face with the Welshman, who has more than enough talent to hurt his Liverpool side.
