Liverpool fans loved seeing Virgil van Dijk body check Cristiano Ronaldo after he kicked out at Curtis Jones during Manchester United’s 5-0 defeat on Sunday.
Moments before Mo Salah could put Liverpool 4-0 up in the first half, Ronaldo kicked the ball at full pelt, whilst it was close to Curtis Jones’ chest and he was on the floor following a challenge.
That incident sparked a bit of a reaction, with Andy Robertson coming over and making his feelings clear towards the player.
Whilst Van Dijk body checked the Manchester United forward, which the Liverpool faithful just loved.
Ronaldo was shown a yellow card for his actions, as it was clearly him just expressing his frustrations because the Reds were all over their bitter rivals.
But, in truth, if the Portugal international was sent off, then he probably couldn’t argue too much because it was one of those incidents where it would have probably been viewed differently by other officials.
Either way, Liverpool fans loved the reaction from Van Dijk, who did very well to keep Ronaldo at bay throughout the game.
At one moment during the match, he thought he scored a consolation – straight after Salah’s hat-trick – only for VAR to rule his curling effort offside.
An afternoon to forget for one half of Manchester and one that will be remembered forever by the other half of Merseyside.
