Barcelona will face Celtic at Celtic Park in the Champions League later this month.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has told The Daily Record that he and his teammates will be ruthless against Celtic later this month.

The Spanish giants will take on Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in Champions League Group C on Wednesday, November 23.

Luis Enrique’s side are at the top of the group at the moment with nine points from four matches.

Barcelona are two points clear of second-placed Manchester City and are still the favourites to win the group.

The European giants lost on Tuesday evening, going down 3-1 to City away from home at the Etihad Stadium.

Messi has outlined the need for Barca to win against Celtic in their next Champions League match.

The Argentina international forward, though, has admitted that it will not be easy for Barca to pick up all three points from the encounter at Celtic Park.

“Our next game against Celtic is an important one – and we must be ruthless,” Messi told The Daily Record. “It is a club and stadium a lot of the players know well and a club we have a lot of respect for, but we must forget everything and make sure we return from Scotland with a win.”

“It was a big victory against Celtic in the opening game of the group, but that does not mean anything now,” added the Argentine.

“Celtic are are a different team at Celtic Park and there are players here at Barcelona who know the sort of atmosphere their fans will create for them.”

Celtic are at the foot of Champions League Group C with just two points from four matches.

The Glasgow giants are unlikely to end up in the top two and qualify for the last-16 stage of Europe’s premier club competition this season.

Brendan Rodgers’s side, though, do have a chance of finishing third and dropping to the Europa League.
