Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will make his Inter Miami debut this Friday in the Leagues Cup against Mexican side Cruz Azul.
Taking to Instagram, the Argentine superstar revealed that he will be ready to play at the end of this week when Inter Miami face the Liga MX side, with the game also taking place in the same stadium Messi was unveiled as a new signing for the club.
Much speculation has been made on when Messi will actually make his debut for Inter Miami ever since news broke last month that the forward was heading to America. However, the 35-year-old himself has now put rumors to bed by confirming his intention to play on Friday.
Indeed, Inter Miami will be hopeful that Messi will be ready to compete against Cruz Azul, who no doubt won’t go easy on the Argentine international ahead of what will be a historic fixture for both Tata Martino’s side as well as MLS as a whole.
Messi will want to put on a show on his Inter Miami debut

Messi is finally here in Florida after years of speculation and months of buildup. And the forward will want to put on a show in his first game as an Inter Miami player, with Cruz Azul a good test for the former FC Barcelona and PSG superstar.
As we know, Messi isn’t here to collect a paycheck and lay by the beach. The attacker is here to give Inter Miami his last years of his career, and a good debut in the Leagues Cup will be a good indicator of what’s to come from the Argentine in the games to come.
