So, the time may finally be upon us. Lionel Messi will (potentially) be making his Champions League debut for Paris Saint-Germain tonight.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side take on Club Brugge in Europe’s greatest club competition, and all eyes will be on the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Even if Messi doesn’t enter the pitch tonight, we think PSG might just be alright with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – they’re not bad either apparently.
For now, let’s take a look at Messi’s Champions League record with Barcelona over the years…
Lionel Messi’s Champions League goals
The mesmeric Argentine is one of two players in history to have scored over 100 Champions League goals, the other being Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi has 120 strikes to his name in the competition, 15 behind Ronaldo but 45 more than Robert Lewandowski in third place.
One strike in particular – a phenomenal curled effort against Napoli in 2019/20 – won Messi the Goal of the Season for that campaign.
Lionel Messi’s Champions League records
The 34-year-old has smashed a fair few records in the Champions League, to say the least.
No player has more than Messi’s 71 Group Stage goals. Additionally, no player has scored more goals than him in the Last 16 phase either – PSG’s No.30 has bagged 28.
Furthermore, no player has scored as many Champions League goals for one club as Messi – he netted 120 in total for Barcelona.

PSG’s South American sensation has also been named in the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season on seven occasions.
Last but by no means least, Messi has also won the Champions League on four occasions.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see him add to some of these exquisite achievements tonight in Belgium.
