The Norrkoping youngster has been linked with Leeds United for a number of months.
Reports that Linus Wahlqvist is set to make his long-mooted move to Leeds United will surely intensify once again after the Sweden international admitted to Fotbollskanalen that he would be interested in a move to the Championship
Voetbal Belgie reported back in November that Garry Monk’s side were tracking the 20-year-old IFK Norrkoping defender, with the likes of Stoke City and Anderlecht also keen on a player who has made quite the impact in his homeland since breaking into the senior game less than two years ago.
‘Worst period of my career’; 26-year-old will wish he’d moved to Leeds United
And Wahlqvist, who has now earned five Sweden caps, has hardly played down the prospects of joining compatriot Pontus Jansson (below) at Elland Road as Monk attempts to beef up his squad ahead of a taxing promotion challenge.

“England and Germany are my favourite leagues and countries,” the youngster told Fotbollskanalen. “The Championship? It looks like a very good league, better than many people think. I think it is a good league to land in.”
Report: Leeds United would have to pay big for Serie B breakout star
And he could be set to ‘land’ in English football before Wednesday’s transfer deadline after Aftonbladet reported on Monday that he was left out of Norrkoping’s squad for a friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The right-back would offer support to Luke Ayling in the Leeds squad and, with Monk’s judgement proving rather impressive so far, his seemingly impending arrival should excite fans desperate for reinforcements.
