Sunderland were credited with interest in Naylor this week.

Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of Burton Albion’s Tom Naylor, just days after the Sunderland Echo credited Sunderland with interest in the defender.
Naylor’s contract with Burton expired at the end of last season, and it was perhaps little surprise to see him linked with a move to Sunderland, who have already seen five centre-backs – Marc Wilson, John O’Shea, Tyias Browning, Brendan Galloway and Jake Clarke-Salter – exit the Stadium of Light this summer.

That leaves just Paddy McNair, Papy Djilobodji and Lamine Kone as senior options in Naylor’s position – each of whom have been tipped for transfers away from Wearside.
And Sunderland – who are keen on Blackpool’s Clark Robertson, according to the Sunderland Echo – will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements
Naylor has signed a three-year deal at Portsmouth, who could be among the Mackems’ main challengers for next season’s League One title.
Will Sunderland regret not signing Naylor?
