The German goalkeeper has struggled to impress in Yorkshire.
Vitoria Setubal’s German goalkeeper Lukas Raeder
This summer Newcastle United found themselves linked with a move for German goalkeeper Lukas Raeder. The Daily Mail reported that Newcastle were keen, along with German giants Borussia Dortmund, in a deal to bring the giant goalkeeper in to increase competition between the sticks.
It came after two seasons at Portuguese side Vitoria Setubal for the former Bayern Munich youngster, who had also been on a trial spell at Southampton.

In the end no deal ever happened for Raeder to head to St James’ Park, but he did find another club in England to play for. It was not however a Premier League team, nor a Championship team, but rather one playing in League One.
Raeder joined Bradford City at the end of August on a short-term deal until the start of January. Judging by his exploits at Valley Parade, Newcastle fans will not feel they have missed out.
Colin Doyle of Bradford City in action
Rather than walk straight into a regular starting spot with the Bantams the 23-year-old has played just once for the club – an EFL Trophy game against Manchester City.
He now finds himself the number three choice for Bradford, behind Colin Doyle and fellow countryman Rouven Sattelmaier.
Newcastle and Dortmund will not feel too aggrieved on Raeder slipping off of their transfer radar in the summer.
