To have moved from Ancelotti to Moyes within the space of a month is quite the step downwards. The former has won the league title in England, France, Germany and Italy, as well as three Champions League trophies. The latter was relegated from the English top tier with Sunderland last season.
Whether Ancelotti would genuinely have been tempted to East London is debateable, but to have gone from the ex-Chelsea chief to Moyes – who has failed to impress in his last three jobs at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and the Black Cats – is understandably deflating for the fans.
