The Peruvian is in great form at Brazilian side Sao Paulo.
Christian Cueva
One year ago Tottenham Hotspur were being heavily linked with a move for Peruvian midfielder Christian Cueva.
The attacking playmaker had been impressing in Mexico with Toluca and Spurs were said to be willing to spend to bring him to England.
The Daily Mail reported that Spurs had sent scouts to watch him in action for his country against Uruguay, as they pondered a potential £15 million move for the player.
Of course, no deal ever came off. Cueva did not move to Tottenham in the summer but did in fact make a transfer.
He headed to Brazil. He joined Sao Paulo in June for a fee reported by Transfermarkt to be just £1.88 million – despite the £15 million price-tag Tottenham were reportedly willing to pay.

The tricky attacker has since gone on to have a successful first season with the Brazilian side.
He scored seven goals in 24 games in last season’s Brazilian league campaign and is currently showing his best form yet for the club, with five goals in seven games of the club’s Paulista A1 season.
Tottenham may have missed out on a bargain with this player.
