Leeds and Newcastle linked defender did not get the move he hoped for.

Paris Saint-Germain talent Harold Voyer was linked with a move to England this summer with his time at the French club coming to an end.

Footmercato reported that Leeds United and Newcastle United were both interested in the 20-year-old defender, along with Fulham.

Voyer would have been a low cost gamble for any of the sides, with the centre-back a promising talent in PSG’s academy, starring in the UEFA Youth League.

But the defender was unable to clinch a move to England, and made a less glamorous move instead.

He signed with AS Poissy, who play in the French fourth division, based in Paris.

Time will tell if it is a move which pays off for the defender, who stands a better shot of playing regularly having remained in France.

A switch to England would likely have seen Voyer feature in under-23 football before trying to earn a first team role.

At present though, Leeds, Newcastle or Fulham are not left feeling they missed out by Voyer’s eventual choice of club.
