Rangers should consider Dundee’s Scott Bain despite rivals Celtic showing interest.
Dundee’s Scott Bain
The Daily Record reported last week that Celtic are keen on Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain.
Bain has only 18 months left on his contract which could pressure Dundee into selling this summer, rather than risk losing the 25-year-old on a free transfer a year later.
While Celtic could benefit from Bain’s arrival, Rangers arguably need the goalkeeper even more.
Bain is proven in the Scottish Premiership, with 82 top flight appearances under his belt after working his way up from League Two side Alloa Athletic having been released by Aberdeen in 2011.
Bain could replace Craig Gordon in the long term at Celtic, but that would be dependent on the goalkeeper moving on this summer which is yet uncertain, with the Scotland international a key figure in recent months.
Rangers are after fresh direction, and Bain could be the man to provide that in goal.
Wes Foderingham was former manager Mark Warburton’s choice, but has struggled at times this season, with another example on show at the weekend as the Gers lost 2-1 to Bain’s Dundee.

They ditched Matt Gilks after just six months and elected to sign Port Vale stopper Jak Alnwick instead.
Alnwick is a raw prospect rather than a proven goalkeeper, and Bain is considerably more experience.
With only a year remaining on his contract once the summer rolls around, the Dundee man would be an affordable addition for Rangers, providing Celtic’s interest does not blow them out of the water.
