The new Nottingham Forest director of football signed the now Watford striker for Liverpool.

Jerome Sinclair was viewed as one of English football’s finest prospects at the time of his transfer from Liverpool to Watford last summer, under the Bosman ruling.

However, the move has not quite worked out for the striker, who now finds himself on loan to Birmingham City.

Nottingham Forest were one of several clubs linked with Sinclair’s services (Daily Mail), before landing the more experienced Ross McCormack from Aston Villa instead.

But with McCormack himself only moving clubs in the summer, a reported cost of £12 million, the chances of him returning to Forest next season – at least on a permanent basis – are somewhat slim.

The Scot may not be the only striker on his way out of the City Ground, however, when the summer window opens, with Matt Fryatt out of contract, Nicklas Bendtner and Apostolos Vellios frozen out and Ben Brereton and Britt Assombalonga always likely to draw interest.

Sinclair, therefore, may once again find himself a target for Forest, whose appointment of Frank McParland as director of football could help to seal the deal.

After all, it was McParland, in his then role as Liverpool’s academy director, who prised the young goalscorer away from first club West Bromwich Albion at the age of 14.
