Pedro Obiang has once again been linked with an exit from West Ham United, with the Mirror claiming Fiorentina still view the midfielder as a replacement for Milan Badelj.

La Viola were interested in signing Obiang in the January transfer window as they prepare to lose Badelj on a free transfer this summer when the Croatian’s contract expires.

Yet while a return to Serie A appears to be the most likely move for the former Sampdoria man should he leave the London Stadium, could there still be interest from the Premier League?

It was only 12 months ago that the Sun reported that Liverpool were keen on signing Obiang themselves with a bid of around £18m.

At the time it was claimed the Reds wanted a deeplying midfield player and although they have since agreed a deal for RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita – who will arrive at Anfield this summer – Emre Can is also out of contract at the end of the season and has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus by the Sun.

Whether the Merseysiders will still be interested in Obiang, a player who has played 26 times for a struggling Hammers team this term, remains to be seen but as a replacement for Can the 25-year-old surely still represents a good option?
