Klinsmann was at Tottenham for the 1994-95 season, but that single campaign is still fondly remembered by the fans.
The 56-year-old has been in the management business since 2004.
The former Germany international striker managed the national side, Bayern Munich, the USA team, and Hertha Berlin.
Klinsmann’s managerial career has been mixed.
There will be a degree of risk involved if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy decides to go with the German.
However, Tottenham are running out of options, and first-team pre-season training will start in a matter of weeks.
Spurs chairman Levy needs to make a decision soon if the team are to be successful next season.
