Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to reveal a statistic that will embarrass Liverpool and delight Everton after Richarlison scored at Anfield earlier.

The Brazil international opened the scoring with a powerful low drive beyond Alisson Becker, following a great pass from James Rodriguez.

After the net at the Kop End was rippled, Lineker posted the following tweet.

It goes without saying that it reflects terribly on Jürgen Klopp’s side.

We’re nearly in March, so for the Premier League champions to have scored only one goal at home in 2021 really emphasises just how out of form they are.

To make matters worse, the one time Liverpool have scored at Anfield this year came courtesy of a penalty from Mohamed Salah against Manchester City.

It just doesn’t sound true, but it is. Liverpool, the Premier League champions, haven’t scored a goal from open play at Anfield so far this year.

How bizarre.

It just goes to show how important Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are in an attacking sense, as Klopp has fielded Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino consistently during this dry spell in front of goal.

The duo set the tempo from the back, and the Reds are seriously missing them right now, to say the very least.
