Gary Lineker has joked on Twitter that Tottenham’s contract renewals are becoming a daily occurrence.

Spurs announced on Friday that Kyle Walker has extended his contract, with the club website confirming his new deal will run until 2021.

The right-back is the latest player to renew, following Danny Rose and Dele Alli, who have each penned new deals after the past fortnight.

Walker’s new deal is another sign that Tottenham are seeking to lock in their top young stars for the long term, and keeping a core of talent together.

Spurs finished third last season and currently sit in the same position, and will hope that the stability of their team will allow them to build on the progress they have already made under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who himself penned a new deal in the summer.

Walker is Tottenham’s clear first choice right-back, and while they have Kieran Tripper in reserve, and long-term, Kyle Walker-Peters waiting in the wings, he looks to have the spot sewn up for the forseeable future.
