Gary Lineker has sung the praises of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, describing his latest performance as ‘brilliant’.
It was a return to form for the Liverpool right-back in North London last night.
The 22-year-old defender has been pretty hit and miss for the Reds this season, in contrast to how sensational he’s been in recent years.
But Alexander-Arnold looked back on form at the Emirates as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Arsenal 3-0.
And it was a moment of magic from the right-back which led to the opening goal, as Alexander-Arnold’s delicious cross was headed home by substitute Diogo Jota.
It has been a difficult last few weeks for the player in light of his snub from the latest England squad – and here’s how Lineker reacted to his performance on Twitter last night:
This was only Alexander-Arnold’s sixth assist in all competitions this season, which is nothing to be sniffed at given his position.
Then again, he set up 31 goals across all competitions over the past two campaigns, which illustrates his dip in form under Klopp during the 2020-21 campaign.
But last night was a huge reminder of his ability and Liverpool are definitely lucky to have him.
