Lille have told Sven Botman to move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Lille want Sven Botman to join Newcastle United
The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has been quoted as saying by MilanNews.it that Lille are ‘insisting’ that Botman accept the offer from Newcastle.
The Magpies have an agreement with Lille over the transfer of the defender, but the Dutchman wants to move to AC Milan and is waiting for the Italian champions to strike a deal with the French club, according to Di Marzio.
Newcastle are reportedly ready to pay Lille €40 million (£34.32m) plus €5 million (£4.29m) in bonuses for Botman, described as “a top player” by former St. James’ Park star Jonathan Woodgate on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport this month.

Could a transfer happen?
In our view, Newcastle United could struggle to sign Sven Botman from Lille in the summer transfer window.
There is a long time left this window, and AC Milan could eventually cough up the money needed to convince Lille to sell the 22-year-old centre-back to him.
And, perhaps more importantly, Botman reportedly has his heart set on a move to Milan.
That could be decisive in the end.
