Leeds and Everton are keen to sign Daichi Kamada in January – now, he has been tipped as one to watch at the World Cup in Qatar.

It was BILD in Germany who revealed that Everton are interested in the Japan international, whereas another German news outlet in SPORT1 claimed that Leeds hope to sign him.

Leeds & Everton target named as one to watch

Well, it was BBC Sport‘s Guy Mowbray who told readers to keep an eye on Kamada, as he embarks on his first ever World Cup campaign.

The 50-year-old wrote: “Daichi Kamada is a player we could be seeing in the Premier League soon, with Everton reportedly leading the English interest.

“Kamada is having an outstanding season in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, after initially toiling after his move to Frankfurt from Japan in 2017. An all-round midfielder whose best strengths are on the attacking side, but he can play deeper and likes a tackle as well.”

Kamada has been one of the best players in Europe so far this season, remarkably scoring 12 goals in 22 appearances from midfield, while also providing four assists.

The 26-year-old has never actually represented Japan at a major tournament, with his 22 caps so far coming in international friendlies, and also the qualification campaign for this winter’s tournament in Qatar.

On the basis of his stunning form in Germany so far this season, Kamada – rated at £20m – is definitely capable of becoming a star of the World Cup.

Leeds or Everton could secure a bargain

Interestingly, Kamada’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt will surely be sweating about the situation, as their No.15 is playing like a £50m player at the moment, and they would be devastated to lose him for nothing in the summer of 2023.

Unless Kamada signals a desire to sign fresh terms, then the Bundesliga outfit may have to give serious consideration to selling the Japanese sensation in January, or else they risk missing out on a transfer fee.

Be sure to keep an eye on Kamada in Qatar, as Leeds and Everton could be met with more competition for his signature if he impresses like Mowbray expects him to.
