Gabby Agbonlahor has warned Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal that they might have another Mykhailo Mudryk situation on their hands if they lose West Ham United captain Declan Rice to another club.
The former Premier League striker claimed that Arsenal fans ‘won’t forgive’ their club if they miss out on the 24-year-old’s signature and it’s a deal they simply have to get over the line, as he told talkSPORT.
Declan Rice has 12 months left on his contract at the London Stadium and it’s clear to all that he will leave, but a certain Treble-winning machine in Manchester City has now come knocking, as reported by Sky Sports.
That has put a spanner in the works for the London club because near-on every player would now accept playing for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
You can’t get any better than winning the Treble and it has also to be noted that you are near-on guaranteed to win a trophy at the Etihad if you decided to move there.
That’s why Agbonlahor has told Arsenal to just put the £100 million+ on the table that West Ham want for their captain and stop the possibility of fans turning on them.
“If you are West Ham, you are saying ‘we told you, it’s £115 million’,” said Agbonlahor. “Whether it’s £100 million upfront and £15 million in add-ons. Are Arsenal’s add-ons for them to win the league? That’s unlikely, which West Ham are thinking, maybe.
“West Ham are in the driving seat. Pay what we ask for or you don’t have him. Arsenal have to be very careful because I don’t think Arsenal fans will forgive the club and they miss out on him, like with Mudryk.”
Mykhailo Mudryk all over again?
The Ukraine star might have had a troubling start to his Chelsea career, but back in January, he couldn’t make it more obvious that he wanted to move to Arsenal.
Instead, the big pockets of Chelsea came knocking and swooped Mykhailo Mudryk off his feet to the disappointment of Arsenal.
Could the same happen again? Now, it has to be noted that Leandro Trossard of Brighton was Mudryk’s alternative, and in truth, he faired pretty well.
