If there’s one position Tottenham desperately need to strengthen, it’s the right-back department.
Both Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty failed to impress during the 2020/21 campaign, with José Mourinho often rotating between the pair.
Aurier made 19 Premier League starts, whereas Doherty made 13.
Also, the pair are 28 and 29 years of age respectively, so it’s about time a younger face was signed.
In that respect, it’s encouraging to see Sky Sports reveal that Spurs are keen to sign Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey this summer.
In fact, it has been said that Spurs are planning to sell Aurier, and use the money to sign the Brighton No.2.
The 20-year-old shone for the Seagulls last term in his 11 Premier League starts, before missing the rest of the campaign through injury.
Jamie Redknapp is a big fan of Tariq Lamptey
One man who seems to rate the England Under-21 international highly is Jamie Redknapp.

The Sky Sports pundit – and former Tottenham player – admitted that he loves watching the man Brighton paid £3 million for.
Redknapp also praised Lamptey’s bravery in leaving Chelsea to gain first-team football under Graham Potter down at Brighton.
As quoted by Sussex Live, Redknapp said: “I like watching him play.
“It’s a massive decision for a player to maybe stay at Chelsea or perhaps go to another club and play. He’s made the right decision for him right now because he’s in the first team.”

If Daniel Levy gets this deal over the line, Spurs could have their right-back position sorted for the next decade.
Lamptey also has plenty of time to get even better, which is fascinating seeing as he’s already a gem of a player.
The north Londoners would also have a frightening full-back pairing, with Sergio Reguilon bombing up and down the opposite flank.
In our view, Lamptey should be Tottenham’s No.1 target this summer.
