‘Like the look of this’: Some Liverpool fans react to news on youth gem Klopp called ‘wonderful’

Some Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after the Reds announced that Paul Glatzel had joined League Two side Tranmere Rovers on loan for the 2021/22 season.

Glatzel spent much of last season in the Anfield outfit’s Under 23s as he fought to get his career back on track. After turning out for Jurgen Klopp in pre-season ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, the Merseyside-born attacker sustained a knee injury in a friendly with Tranmere.

The 20-year-old had shown promise the season before to earn his first professional contract. But the German youth international is yet to make his senior debut and struggled for goals and minutes last term.

Glatzel only featured in eight Premier League 2 fixtures for Liverpool during 2020/21 after tearing his ankle ligaments in November. Barry Lewtas also only started the 20-year-old on three occasions, to see him strike two goals and four assists.

All of his goal involvements came in the final four PL2 games of the season, as well. And Liverpool will now hope to see Glatzel build on his late burst after joining Tranmere on loan. He follows Sepp van den Berg and Adam Lewis in securing season-long deals this summer.

Klopp, particularly, will hope to see Glatzel kick on during the Liverpool forward’s time with Tranmere. The German was full of praise in 2019, noting via the club’s website: “He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player, unbelievable.”

Some Liverpool fans on social media would also like to see Glatzel kick on after joining Tranmere. That’s because they expect big things from the youth talent, and are confident he will adapt to League Two football.

Others have also shared how they believe Liverpool have secured Glatzel an ideal home in Tranmere. Micky Mellon has returned to Prenton Park to manage the Super White Army after they lost in the play-offs last season.
