Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Max Aarons appear to be nullified by Norwich’s promotion.

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Norwich City’s Max Aarons look to be over after the Canaries clinched promotion to the Premier League.
The Mail reported last month that Spurs were eyeing a £15 million swoop for the right-back.
Aarons has been a star performer for Norwich since breaking into the team and he has been an integral player in their promotion charge.
Norwich’s place in the 2019/20 Premier League was confirmed at the weekend.
They are now under no pressure to sell any of their stars and Aarons too would be better off staying put, than seeking a departure.

At Tottenham he would not be guaranteed a first team role, and a move now would be bad for his development.
It echoes Tottenham’s reported chase for Ryan Sessegnon last season.
The Telegraph reported Spurs wanted to offer £35 million for Sessegnon, before Fulham won promotion to the top flight.
This gave Fulham the power to hike his price tag even further and block a move. Norwich too can now do the same.
But like Fulham’s relegation now seems likely to lead to Sessegnon’s exit, Norwich also will know that to keep hold of Aarons, they must retain their status as a top flight club.
