Speaking on his podcast, Gilberto Silva has heaped praise upon Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, even going as far as to compare him to Roberto Carlos.
Silva of course knows what Carlos was about and how deadly his left-foot was, having played with him for Brazil for a number of years.
Silva was discussing Odegaard’s goal against Olympiacos when he drew comparisons to the ex-Real Madrid ace.
“It was a great win, 3-1 away from home in the Europa League. It was a great goal from Odegaard as well,” Silva’s co-host said.
“It was like Roberto Carlos, you know, boom. Come on, it looks like Roberto Carlos from outside the box. A great goal by the way,” Silva replied.
The praise for Odegaard didn’t stop there either, Silva went on to speak about Arsenal’s showing in the north London derby, singling the Norwegian out as one of the top performers.
“The fact is they had a performance I expected for a long time, they dominated the game as we used to watch Arsenal many times doing this. Individual performances were very good as well, especially from Odegaard.”
The 22-year-old is certainly making waves since joining Arsenal, and it’s easy to see why he’s drawing so much praise from legends such as Silva.
The youngster has been very impressive since joining in January, so it’s no surprise to hear that the Gunenrs want to keep him on a permanent basis.
Hopefully, this isn’t the last time we hear Odegaard being praised before the end of the season, and is he continues to bang in these Roberto Carlos-esque strikes, he’ll have one hell of a highlight reel to show off.
