Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after watching footage of Gabriel Martinelli in training at London Colney.
The 15-second clip shows Arsenal’s Brazilian wonderkid practicing his finishing against Mat Ryan, and he’s looking very sharp.
Martinelli’s first finish – as one fan states – is reminiscent of the Brazilian Ronaldo. The teenager can be seen sitting Ryan down with a few stepovers before slotting into an empty net, something that Ronaldo did often.
We also see the 19-year-old slamming one past the Australian at his near post with a very powerful effort.
Lastly, the 15-second footage ends with Martinelli cutting inside, before curling a shot past Ryan and into the bottom right corner.
It’s a very encouraging video, to say the least.
Arsenal’s No.35 looks confident, lively and clinical amid reports that Mikel Arteta is planning to convert him into a centre-forward.
It was Football London who revealed that the Spaniard is tailoring Martinelli’s training in order to get him accustomed to the role.
It could be a masterstroke.
The £6 million prodigy is rapid and has great positional sense, while his diminutive stature also makes him a good dribbler.
These traits make him different to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, which offers Arsenal a unique centre-forward option.
