Noel Whelan mocked Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney on BBC Radio Leeds (6:24pm, November 22, 2020) for taking issue with Leeds United star Ezgjan Alioski at Elland Road last night.
Sending-off of Nicolas Pepe
Alioski was headbutted by Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe in the opening minutes of the second half of the Premier League game at Elland Road on Sunday.
The Ivory Coast international was sent off, although there have been suggestions that the Leeds ace made the most of it and went to ground easily.
Kieran Tierney gets involved
At full time, as reported by talkSPORT, Tierney was involved in a brawl with the North Macedonia international, who can play as a winger or as a left-back.
The Scotland international left-back – who cost the Gunners £25 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Celtic in the summer of 2019, as reported by Sky Sports, had to be separated from Alioski by teammates Daniel Ceballos and Rob Holding as well as first-team coach Steve Round.
Noel Whelan’s take
Former Leeds striker Whelan, who is a fan of the Whites and works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, mocked Tierney for taking issues, comparing him with John Rambo, a fictional character in the Rambo movie franchise played by Sylvester Stallone.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (6:24pm, November 22, 2020): “I think when he looks back now, Kieran Tierney, he will understand why he was sent off, and you have got no reason to start walking around like John Rambo on the field. Get yourself back in the changing room, down the M1.”
