Ian Wright told ITV Sport that this Euro 2020 tournament is ‘redemption’ for reported Everton target and Nice hitman, Kasper Dolberg.
The 23-year-old has been one of the top performers at this summer’s major tournament, scoring three goals and he may well add to that tally against England on Wednesday.
An energetic forward in the final third, Dolberg’s qualities have been noticed in the Premier League because Italian outlet, Calciomercato, have claimed that both Leicester and Everton are keen on his talents this summer.
Dolberg broke through at Ajax as a youngster and many thought the goalscoring teenager would go straight to the top of the footballing food chain as the years passed by.
Highbury legend, Wright, shared how Dolberg was compared to Marco van Basten during his younger days which ‘didn’t help him’ and how he is now getting his career back on track.
“I like Dolberg as a striker,” said Wright. “Again, he was somebody that went to Ajax when he was young.
“He started very well. Very good goalscorer. He has good link-up play. In his first season, he had 23 goals and his dad started to talk about him like he’s Van Basten and that didn’t help him.
“But he faces up play. Links up well. And Denmark are off.
“I think it’s redemption for both of these strikers (Patrick Schick and Dolberg) and what people expected from them. And I think this tournament has brought it out of them. I am delighted for them.”

Rafa Benitez is now in the Goodison Park dugout and it will be interesting to see what type of players he can lure to Merseyside.
Everton have a strong number nine in Calvert-Lewin, but the Englishman needs someone pushing for that spot because Richarlison didn’t exactly pull up trees last season.
But whilst those rumours about Dolberg circulate, the Toffees are better off looking to add depth and quality to their wide areas rather than their central attacking positions.
However, it’s not an area that should be discounted because aside from Calvert-Lewin, Everton lacked real oomph in the final third last season.
