Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Charlie Nicholas - Arsenal

Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas suggested on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, November 19, 2016) that Tottenham Hotspur should hand star duo Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris new contracts.

According to The Mirror, talks over a new contract between Tottenham and Kane have been postponed until the end of the season.

The England international striker reportedly wants in excess of £100,000-a-week as salary, with Manchester United claimed to be interested.

According to The Sun, Kane earns £60,000 a week at the moment, while summer signing Moussa Sissoko gets £95,000 per week as salary.

The Mirror reported earlier this month that France international goalkeeper Lloris wants a significant pay rise, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is refusing to break his strict wage structure.

Former Celtic forward Nicholas has suggested that Spurs should tie down the duo to new long-term deals as soon as possible.

The former Scotland international has used the example of Arsenal to send a warning to Tottenham.

Nicholas has highlighted how the Gunners lost Robin van Persie, now at Fenerbahce, to bitter Premier League rivals United in the summer of 2012.

“This is the thing I keep saying about Spurs,” said Nicholas on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, November 19, 2016) regarding the reported contract situation of Kane and Lloris.

“They are in a difficult spot just the way Arsenal had to do. They will camouflage the finance, they will have to face reality.

“If you don’t top their guys up when you are at your strongest and you can afford to do it, they will leave. Arsenal lost Van Persie, they lost a few players like that.”

Tottenham will face AS Monaco away from home at Stade Louis II in Champions League Group E this evening.
