Leeds United central defender Diego Llorente has told AS that he tries to learn from Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos.

Llorente is away on international duty with Spain, and the Leeds defender is taking the opportunity to make the most of the time he is spending with Ramos.

The 34-year-old central defender is one of the most decorated players in the world, having won the La Liga title five times and the Champions League on four occasions, as well as the European Championship in 2008 and 2012 and the World Cup in 2010 with Spain.

Llorente told AS: “I have played with other younger and less experienced teammates. Sergio, apart from being a top player, has a lot of experience and has been in the elite for many years. I try to absorb everything he brings and experience like a sponge that he can teach you.”

Good for Leeds United

Llorente joined Leeds from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2020 and arrived at Elland Road with a strong reputation.

The 27-year-old has not exactly made a massive impact at the Premier League club, and that is because he has had injury and fitness issues.

The Spain international has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Marcelo Bielsa’s side so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Ramos is a world-class defender, and training with the Madrid star at the Spain camp is certainly good for Llorente’s progression, which in turn means that it will help Leeds.
