West Ham will retain Manuel Lanzini this summer as well as deploy the playmaker in a new role for next season.
According to the Athletic, David Moyes plots to transition the five-time Argentina international into a deep-lying playmaker. Lanzini struggled in a more advanced role last season but thrived further down the pitch.
In particular, Lanzini impressed in a 2-1 win over Burnley in the position towards the end of the season alongside Tomas Soucek.
The midfielder has continued to play in the role this summer in pre-season against the likes of Reading and Celtic.
With signings yet to be made with three weeks until the season starts, Lanzini could find himself to being a useful option for Moyes next campaign.
Whilst his attacking abilities don’t suit the system the Scotsman deploys, his creativity and flair will be helpful in the midfield alongside Soucek and Declan Rice.
Furthermore, on social media, supporters are pleased that Lanzini will be given a new lease of life at the club for next season.
Indeed, the Argentine is a fan favourite in east London, and his form this summer has made supporters eager to see Lanzini retain a place in the first-team for next season.
