Gary Neville shared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme that Jamie Carragher celebrated Jack Grealish’s goal for Aston Villa last night against West Ham ‘like it was a Liverpool goal’.
Before the match, Carragher was heaping praise on the Villa academy product and even compared him to Chelsea legend, Eden Hazard, as he told Sky Sports.
Therefore, he would have been pleased that his analysis before the match paid off when Grealish netted the equalising goal at the time before his team were harshly done by and went onto lose the encounter 2-1.
Neville shared in the Sky studios that Carragher was pretty elated at the long-range effort scored by Grealish, as he praised him for the manner in which he found the back of the net.
“That’s the space you have to block [the pockets in behind the West Ham midfielders],” said Neville. “Every coach in football now stops that ball into the strikers.
“The minute Hourihane runs around, Grealish has then got his space [to run into] and you wouldn’t want anybody else in that position other than Jack Grealish.
“Carragher is having a bit of a good night. He highlighted Lookman before the Fulham game [he then scored for his side] and now he’s highlighted Grealish [who also scored].
“He celebrated like it was a Liverpool goal.”

At this moment in time, Grealish’s numbers are of high quality and he should rightly be considered as one of the top playmakers in the country.
Last season, he was hard done by because his teammates didn’t put away the chances he created – only Kevin de Bruyne created more chances than the ball-carrying Englishman.
But this season, Villa look more efficient, threatening and composed in the final third, which is helping take Grealish’s numbers to the levels that they should be – he has six assists and five goals in nine league games.
