West Ham United face a daunting trip to Manchester City on Sunday and that’s bad news for one player in particular.
West Ham could go into Sunday afternoon’s game bottom of the table and face champions elect Manchester City off the back of a 4-0 drubbing to Everton last time out.
None of the Hammers squad can claim they have played well this season.
But one player who has come in for a lot of criticism is left-back Aaron Cresswell.
The Liverpudlian has gone from being one of West Ham’s most energetic and reliable players to hesitant and poor both defensively and offensively.
And Hammers fans will be fearing the worst going into the game with Cresswell facing a torrid 90 minutes trying to contain one of the most in-form wingers in Europe, Raheem Sterling.
The former Liverpool man is on fire for Pep Guardiola’s side this season and has already equalled his best goal return in a single season with nine.
Three of those goals have been directly responsible for earning City nine points, just one less than West Ham have managed in total so far.
It all points to Cresswell being a lamb to the slaughter as he was torn to shreds when he faced Liverpool’s Mo Salah recently, a player who is in the same kind of form as Sterling.
And unless Moyes sets up to protect his left back it could be another Hammers horror show for the ex-Ipswich Town man.
