Tim Sherwood has lauded the first touch of Mo Salah during Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Norwich City on Saturday, as he told Sky Sports (19/02/22 at 5:45 pm).
The former Premier League boss claimed that Salah’s first touch for his goal was ‘like a bag of cement’ dropping down on his foot.
Dean Smith’s side opened the scoring at Anfield when Milot Rashica’s deflected strike went past Alisson Becker early in the second half.
But Liverpool hit back with some stunning goals, including Salah plucking the ball in the air after a long ball from Alisson, he kept his composure to, at the time, put his side 2-1 ahead.
Sherwood shared his thoughts on Salah’s goal and the manner in which he bamboozled Norwich City’s backline.
“Dean Smith will be devastated the way they conceded the second goal,” said Sherwood.
“Alisson had the ball in his hands. It was just a long kick up forward. You have got Grant Hanley and Gibson running back.
“Salah just watches the ball, it drops and it stopped like a bag of cement on his foot. Absolutely magnificent.
“He had his back to goal, 18 yards out, Angus Gunn is trying to usher him away, he decides to get back to his goal, the defenders go this way and the ball ends up in the other direction.”

That’s 17 Premier League goals for Salah this season and he is steamrolling towards that Golden Boot award.
Salah’s nearest challenger is his own teammate, Diogo Jota, who is on 12 goals, but he is currently on the sidelines.
There’s no doubt that Liverpool’s flying winger will hit 20+ league goals this season, it’s just a case of how far he will go.
And like Harry Kane last season, he might just end up with the top scorer in the division and assist-maker.
