Former Premier League defender Liam Rosenior has suggested on Sky Sports’ The Debate show [broadcast 15/01/2019] that Tottenham Hotspur should move for Callum Wilson.

Tottenham have been rocked by the news that Harry Kane will be sidelined until March at the earliest after suffering an ankle injury in Sunday’s defeat by Manchester United.

It represents a very serious problem for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino whose only recognised replacements are Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen.

The Lilywhites duo have only managed three Premier League goals between them across 50 games and it’s clear that Pochettino will need another option this month.

The Cherries have slapped a £75 million asking price on the 26-year-old striker [The Sun] amid speculation about interest from Chelsea and West Ham.

And Rosenior, who clocked 141 Premier League games during his career, reckons that a move for Wilson makes sense from a Tottenham perspective.

“I think the Tottenham fans will be desperate for the club to get someone in,” he said on The Debate. “I look at Callum Wilson and think he’s the perfect fit.

“He is of a profile where he would be delighted to have the chance to play for a club like Tottenham.

“He gives them the pace to run in behind and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do put a marker down and show they want to keep Pochettino and build for the future.”
