With the summer window approaching, Chelsea are expected to be active again under Todd Boehly and Clearlake, who spent nearly £300m last summer.

Despite the heavy spending, they balanced it with significant sales. Noni Madueke went to Arsenal for over £50m and Christopher Nkunku made the move to Milan.

There are clear areas where Chelsea are looking to strengthen this time around. They need a new goalkeeper, have shown interest in defensive reinforcements, and cover in midfield is also on the list. Emmanuel Emegha has been brought in to add depth up front.

Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho have not found their feet at Stamford Bridge yet. If Geovany Quenda is not considered ready, the club may look for another winger. All signs point towards more changes ahead.

Among Chelsea’s current choices, Benoit Badiashile has slipped down the order, even before Levi Colwill returns to full fitness or Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino get their opportunities in the starting XI.

Right now, Badiashile looks to be behind Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo in Rosenior’s plans. By the time the summer arrives, there’s a good chance he’ll be looking for a new club.

Caught Offside have noted that with Colwill, Sarr, Anselmino and potential new arrivals all competing for places, the £35m centre-back is likely to struggle for any meaningful game time if he stays at Stamford Bridge next season.

Three European clubs eyeing move for Benoit Badiashile

According to Caught Offside, AC Milan are interested in adding another Chelsea player to a list that already includes Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Nkunku, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori. And they are not the only ones keeping an eye on him.

The report also suggests that Juventus might consider a summer move if he becomes available. Meanwhile, there is even talk of Roberto De Zerbi looking to bring the former Monaco defender back to France.

It is becoming increasingly clear that breaking into the first team will be a challenge for him. Rosenior has already shown a preference for Chalobah and Fofana as his main centre-backs, and Colwill has not even returned yet.

Badiashile needs to recognise the situation he is in – there are too many players ahead of him, and staying put would likely mean limited minutes. A summer move looks like the best option if he wants regular football at this stage of his career.
