Liam Rosenior claims Leeds United have more pressure on their shoulders compared with Sheffield United & Norwich City

Leeds United are currently sitting outside of the automatic places in the Championship table.

Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior has claimed that Leeds United’s ‘fantastic’ home support ‘worries’ him because it means all the pressure is on them to perform rather than their rivals.

The Whites are vying to earn promotion to the Premier League via the automatic places and are competing with Norwich and Sheffield United for those top two spots.

Out of all three clubs, Leeds have the biggest home support and arguably the biggest away following as they are trying their utmost best to end their near15 year stay out of England’s top-flight.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (28/03/2019 at 7:25 pm), Rosenior spoke about the added pressure this Leeds team is under and how it is potentially affecting the way they perform.

“They do [Aston Villa have a say in how Leeds and Norwich end the season],” Rosenior told Sky Sports Football. “Obviously, with the last two home games, Leeds have a home game against Aston Villa and the thing that worries me is they have fantastic home support.

“But because Leeds are such a big, big club, the pressure has been on them throughout the season. And Bielsa’s side have done fantastically well to stay there, of course.

“But I just feel there is not much pressure on Norwich or Sheffield United, at the moment. They can go out and play with freedom. It’s really up to Leeds players to take on the mantle of being that team. Being that big club that are expected to be back in the Premier League.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield United before the international break, are sitting third in the table one-point behind the Blades.

Added with that, they are five points behind leaders Norwich, with another weekend of Championship action set to cause more havoc to the table.

If Leeds beat Millwall on home soil on Saturday then they could potentially move into an automatic spot and close the gap on their rivals if they drop points.

Either way, the season is set for a tense finish and there is no doubt that the race to finish in the Championship’s top two could even go down to the last day.
