Derby County loanee Mason Mount has impressed this season, but would he get into Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur side?

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Liam Rosenior has told The Debate, which was broadcast on 30th April, that Mason Mount would be a regular feature in Tottenham Hotspur’s team.

Mount has been loaned out by Chelsea to Derby County this season, and he has impressed enough in the Championship.

Indeed Rosenior feels that if Mount was owned by Tottenham rather than Chelsea then he would be getting regular game time.

He said: “I see someone like Mason Mount and I think if he was at Tottenham, he would probably be playing or in the squad, like Oliver Skipp.

“At the start of the season Tottenham didn’t sign anyone and everyone was saying they have no ambition – they are on the verge of getting the top four again and are in a Champions League semi-final.”

Spurs have shown far greater willingness to play youngsters than Chelsea in recent times.

Pochettino has one of the best track records in England at developing young talent.

Chelsea, on the other hand, prefer to buy more experienced players rather than trust their youth system.

The Blues may have no choice but to give chances to the likes of Mount next term though, if their transfer ban is enforced.

Tottenham are currently one place ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table, as both London sides look to claim a place in the top four.
