Liam Rosenior believes Pablo Hernandez is ‘key’ to Leeds United earning promotion via the automatic places

Leeds United moved back into the automatic places by beating Millwall in the Championship on Saturday.

Liam Rosenior has claimed that Pablo Hernandez is Marcelo Bielsa’s ‘voice’ in the dressing room and he is ‘key’ to Leeds United finish in the top two.

The White earned a valuable win at the weekend when they beat relegation-threatened Millwall 3-2 on home soil, with playmaker Hernandez netting a brace.

The win meant that Leeds leapfrogged rivals Sheffield United into second place after they were beaten by the same margin against Bristol City.

Speaking to EFL Championship Goals on Sky Sports Football (30/03/2019 at 10:10 pm), Rosenior was in awe of Hernandez’s qualities and how he is ageing like a fine wine.

“I wouldn’t mind a bottle of Pablo Hernandez the way he is playing at the moment,” Rosenior told Sky Sports Football. “He has been absolutely fantastic all season. What a player! He has scored two huge goals.

“He is going to be key for their chances of going up automatically this season. I’m sure on the pitch he’s a huge influence. But I am sure in that dressing room, at the moment, he also speaks Spanish, so he probably Bielsa’s voice in the dressing room. With the experience he [Hernandez] has got, there are a lot of young players in that Leeds squad. He plays a pivotal role at the football club, at the moment. And he’s just thriving in it.”

Over the international break, the EFL named the Championship Team of the Year and Hernandez was a big omission from the starting XI, with his teammates Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper making the cut.

But the Spaniard answered those critics in the perfect manner and he will be hoping to continue in his ways because if he does then it increases his side’s chances of promotion.

Over the course of the campaign, the senior player has scored 12 league goals and supplied his teammates with 10 assists [transfermarkt].

There is no doubt that Hernandez is one of the best players in the second tier of English football, with his ability to find that extra yard of space, make the ball talk in the final third and produce a killer pass are some of his many strengths.
