Newcastle United confirmed the signing of Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron on deadline day.

Former Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell has revealed that Newcastle’s new signing Miguel Almiron is ‘quicker with the ball’ than he is ‘without it’.
The Magpies confirmed on their official website that they had signed midfielder Almiron from Atlanta United in the MLS on deadline day.
Former Premier League left-back Ridgewell, who played against Almiron for the Portland Timbers in America, offered his thoughts on Newcastle’s new signing and made a revelation the supporters will love.
“He’s very good. Very dynamic, very quick as well,” Ridgwell told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Chronicle. “I think he’s quicker with the ball than without it so he’s going to be very dangerous.
“Normally when they get the ball at their feet they slow down a bit but he doesn’t, which makes him very dangerous. It’s very hard to stick a tackle in on him – any time you think you can get him, he slips away from you. He’s a real prospect and one to excite the Toon Army.”
Attack-minded Almiron will provide Rafa Benitez with a much-needed boost in the final third as he will be looking to make his mark in England’s top flight.

During the recently concluded MLS season, he played 38 games in all competitions for Atlanta, scoring 13 goals from the middle of the park and supplying the same amount of assists, according to transfermarkt.
Now, the Paraguay international, who has never played in Europe before, will be looking to transcend those performances to the Premier League and showcase them at St James’ Park.
Following Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Tuesday night, the northeast club will travel to London on Saturday afternoon to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.
