The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has already bolstered the defensive ranks at Ibrox.

Liam Ridgewell has issued a come-and-get-me plea to clubs including Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
The veteran defender is a free agent after leaving Hull at the end of last season and was asked by the Rangers-supporting Jim White on Talksport earlier whether he would entertain a move to Ibrox.
And Ridgewell said of Rangers: “They’re a big club obviously.
“I’d entertain anything that comes my way. I’m open to listening to offers and trying to find out where the club’s going, what their ambitions are, and if it lines up with myself.”
But any deal must accompany opportunities for Ridgewell to further his post-playing career.
“That’s the main thing for me, at 34,” he added. “I want to go into management, go into coaching, so I want to try and make sure that I can step into a place where I can help myself along with that.”
Rangers have already signed two new centre-backs this summer, in George Edmundson and Filip Helander.
But Ridgewell’s ability to play left-back as well could increase his chances of an approach from Rangers, especially with Borna Barisic said to have attracted interest.

Ridgewell played Premier League football for Aston Villa, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion before a four-year spell with Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer.
He returned to England permanently with Hull in January, but failed to earn a contract for the new campaign.
