Reading defender Liam Moore says he won’t force an exit from the club this summer after handing in a transfer request 12 months ago following a failed Brighton and Hove Albion move, Reading Chronicle report.
“The club has financial problems and that’s very open for everybody to see. I absolutely won’t be pushing anything – I’m very thankful for what the club did for me and my family last summer. If I am here I’ll give 110 per cent as I always have,” the defender explained.
Moore was at the heart of an on-going transfer saga last year. Brighton were reported to have seen a £10 million bid for him turned down, prompting the talented centre-back to hand in a transfer request.
The former Leicester City man didn’t get his move to the Seagulls, but now he seemingly looks back on the whole episode with some regret as he pledges his future to the Championship club.
The Royals managed to preserve their Championship status following an impressive run of form under Portuguese manager Jose Gomes who arrived at the club in the winter.
Gomes managed to shake up the squad in January as the likes of Marc McNulty and David Meyler were moved out. And those that came in on loan made a big difference such as Nelson Oliveira and Ovie Ejaria.
Reading will want to continue to be busy in the transfer market this summer, but importantly they must hold on to their better players and Moore could find himself the subject of more Premier League interest.
