Liam Millar has suggested to The Sunday Post that he hopes to break into the Liverpool first team next season.

The 19-year-old forward joined Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on loan from Premier League club Liverpool on January transfer deadline day.

The Canada international made the move after signing a new long-term contract with Liverpool, as announced the Reds’ official website.

The talented and promising teenager hopes to break into the Liverpool first team next season when he returns to Anfield from his loan spell at Kilmarnock.

Millar has also revealed that Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish recommended him to move to Kilmarnock.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke from people at Liverpool,” Millar told The Sunday Post. “Kenny Dalglish was the one who recommended me to him, which is not too bad!”

The youngster added: “I’ve trained with the first-team at Liverpool now and again. The front three is unbelievable, it’s amongst the best in the world and that makes it so hard to break in.

“It’s almost insane thinking you could replace one of the strikers, but there’s always a chance if I can do well for Kilmarnock.”

Future talent

Millar is a very good player who has a bright future ahead of him, but it is going to be hard for the Canada international to establish himself in the Liverpool first team next season.

After all, the Reds have one of the best attacking units in Europe, and if manager Jurgen Klopp is able to retain his best players in the summer of 2019, then it is going to be hard for anyone to dislodge them.
